More information

Echinodorus barthii

Echinodorus barthii

This striking species is prized for its distinctive reddish-brown to burgundy foliage that creates dramatic visual impact in aquariums and water gardens. The elongated, lance-shaped leaves emerge with vibrant red coloration that intensifies under proper lighting, making it a standout choice for aquascaping enthusiasts.

  • Light: Requires moderate to high lighting for optimal coloration. Stronger light intensifies the red-burgundy hues.
  • Temperature: Thrives in warm water between 72-82°F (22-28°C).
  • Water Parameters: Prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH of 6.5-7.5. Benefits from regular fertilization with iron-rich substrate or liquid supplements.
  • Care: Plant in nutrient-rich substrate with roots fully covered. Remove old or damaged leaves to encourage new growth. CO2 supplementation enhances growth and color intensity.

Additional Notes:

This medium-sized sword plant reaches 10-16 inches in height, ideal for midground to background placement. The vibrant coloration provides excellent contrast against green aquatic plants.
