Aliceara Samurai

Aliceara Samurai Culture

This hybrid is a cross between Aliceara Hani and Oncidium schroederianum. The Aliceara genus name is used for hybrids that combine the genera Brassia, Miltonia, and Oncidium. It is a medium-sized orchid prized for its ease of culture and long-lasting flowers.

  • Light: Prefers bright, but indirect light. Direct midday sunlight should be avoided as it can burn the leaves. An east-facing window is ideal.
  • Temperature: Thrives best in intermediate temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures are 18-25°C (65-77°F), with a night drop to approximately 12°C (54°F) to encourage flowering.
  • Humidity: Requires moderate to high humidity, ideally between 50-70%. It's important to ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal problems.
  • Watering: Watering should be regular. Let the top portion of the potting medium dry out slightly between waterings, but do not allow the medium to become completely dry.

Additional Notes

  • Floral Characteristics: Aliceara Samurai produces tall, upright inflorescences, with light, spidery-looking flowers. The flowers can vary in color from a pale pink to a deep red, with the lower lip typically white. They are lightly fragrant and very long-lasting.
