Alocasia 'Dragon Wings'

Alocasia 'Dragon Wings'

A bold and architectural aroid hybrid prized for its large, elongated leaves in deep blue-green with a glossy, almost metallic surface and prominent pale veining — a dramatic statement plant that grows quickly into an impressive specimen.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun, which can bleach or scorch the foliage. Thrives near an east or north-facing window, or set back from a bright south or west exposure.
  • Temperature: Warm-growing; prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C). Protect from temperatures below 60°F (15°C) and cold drafts.
  • Humidity: High humidity preferred, ideally 60–80%. Use a humidifier or pebble tray to maintain consistent moisture in the air, especially indoors.
  • Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows.
  • Growth Habit: Upright, clumping grower that produces large leaves on tall petioles. Can reach 3–4 ft (90–120 cm) indoors. No climbing support needed.

Additional Notes:

Best grown in a well-draining mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark (2:1:1 ratio). Repot every 1–2 years in spring when roots become crowded. Like all Alocasias, it may go dormant in low-light winter conditions — reduce watering and resume normal care when new growth appears.
