Angraecum scottianum

Angraecum scottianum

This is a miniature to small-sized. This charming orchid is known for its climbing or pendulous growth habit, which makes it an excellent candidate for growing on a mount. Its slender stems are densely covered in distichous (two-ranked) leaves.

  • Light: Prefers moderate, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sun, but strong midday sun should be avoided.
  • Temperature: Warm to cool growing conditions are ideal, with a temperature range of 15-27°C (59-80°F) during the day and a slight drop at night.
  • Humidity: High humidity, between 70-80%, is crucial for this species to thrive.
  • Watering: Water regularly to keep roots moist, especially if mounted. Let roots dry a bit between waterings but avoid long dry spells.

Additional Notes

This orchid produces elegant, star-shaped flowers that are white to creamy white. The blooms are relatively large for the size of the plant and feature a prominent, frilly-edged lip and a long, slender spur. The flowers are fragrant at night.
