Alocasia

Alocasia is a genus of tropical perennial plants belonging to the family Araceae, commonly known as elephant ear or taro. These plants are native to tropical and subtropical Asia and eastern Australia. They are grown for their large, arrowhead-shaped leaves that are often variegated in different shades of green, white, silver, and purple. Alocasia plants typically grow from a corm or rhizome and require warm, humid conditions with bright, indirect light to thrive. They are popular as ornamental plants for gardens, indoor spaces, and as houseplants. Some species of Alocasia are also used in traditional medicine and cooking. However, some species of Alocasia are toxic and can cause irritation or discomfort if ingested.
