Philodendron verrucosum Amazonas

Philodendron verrucosum Amazonas

A refined selection of Phil. verrucosum, 'Amazonas' stands out with its elongated, cordate, velvety dark green leaves adorned with soft creamy-white venation and a pronounced acuminate tip — giving it a more slender, graceful silhouette than other verrucosum forms.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; essential to bring out the depth of the velvety texture and the subtle venation contrast. Avoid direct sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to cool-growing; prefers 60–75°F (15–24°C). Protect from heat above 85°F (29°C) and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity essential — maintain 70–90%. A humidifier or enclosed growing space is strongly recommended.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings; excellent drainage is critical.
  • Growth Habit: Vining and climbing; benefits from a moss pole or support structure to encourage larger, more dramatically veined leaves as it matures.

Additional Notes:

The 'Amazonas' form is distinguished by its more elongated, slender leaf shape with a pronounced acuminate tip and soft creamy venation on a deep velvety surface — a more refined and understated aesthetic compared to other verrucosum selections. Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertilizer.
