This magnificent slipper orchid hybrid is a cross between Phragmipedium longifolium and Phragmipedium caudatum, this plant lives up to its name with robust growth and spectacular long-petaled flowers that showcase the best characteristics of both parent species.

  • Light: Bright, filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight. East/north windows or grow lights 30-45 cm away.
  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate: 16-22°C (60-72°F) day, 10-16°C (50-60°F) night. Temperature differential crucial for blooming.
  • Humidity: High humidity 65-85% with good air movement. Use humidity trays or humidifiers.
  • Watering: Constant moisture without waterlogging. Well-draining medium, consistently damp but not soggy. Pure water preferred.

  • Floral Characteristics: Phragmipedium Grande produces spectacular flowers with extremely long, ribbon-like petals extending 12-18 inches. Displays warm green to bronze tones with burgundy striping and a distinctive pouch. Blooms sequentially on tall stems, providing months of continuous display when properly cultivated.
