Commonly known as the Butterfly Orchid or the Spread-Lip Encyclia, is a species of orchid native to the Caribbean, Central America, and northern South America. It belongs to the family Orchidaceae. This epiphytic orchid is known for its fragrant, colorful flowers that resemble butterflies. The flowers can vary in color, ranging from greenish-yellow to orange and brown, and they typically have a distinctive spread lip. Encyclia patens prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered when the potting mix starts to dry out. Proper humidity levels and good air circulation are essential for its well-being.
