More information

Sobralia rosea

Sobralia rosea

This stunning orchid is a terrestrial species known for its tall, woody canes that can grow up to 2 meters (7 feet) tall. Its name, rosea, refers to the predominant color of its flowers. It is a very adaptable orchid.

  • Light: It requires bright, filtered light to flower well. Provide partial shade and avoid intense, direct sun.
  • Temperature: It is adaptable, but it is best grown in Intermediate to Warm conditions. Maintain a range of 58-88°F (14-31°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity is required (70% or more) to keep its canes and leaves healthy. Constant air circulation is essential.
  • Watering: Water frequently and heavily to keep the substrate constantly moist, especially during the growing season. Use a mix that drains very well.

Additional Notes

Sobralia rosea produces large, striking flowers that bloom sequentially at the top of the cane. These blossoms are short-lived and can occasionally emit a fragrance.
