This small to medium-sized, epiphytic species is adaptable, growing across Central and South America in wet tropical forests from 200 to 2000 meters. It is considered an easy-to-grow orchid recognized by its four-angled pseudobulbs and single, leathery leaves.
This species blooms at any time of the year, producing fragrant, vanilla-scented flowers measuring up to 1 1/4" (3-4 cm). The blooms are typically light fox-red or yellowish and are held on short, basal inflorescences.
