Cattleya maxima is an epiphytic orchid, meaning that it grows on other plants or trees in its natural habitat. It prefers bright, indirect light and well-draining soil that allows for good air circulation. In cultivation, it is often grown in pots or hanging baskets with a coarse, well-draining potting mix.
Very happy with this Cattleya maxima. It is not only an adult plant, but in sheath, it seems it could bloom this year. It does need to be repotted, as the media is old, I'll just wait about a month for it to acclimate to my accommodations first and for the days to get a little longer. I will be putting it in a terra-cotta pot to make it bottom heavy too. I think it will like that.
My orchid came with five broken leaves, the leaves that weren’t broken were so old and dry they were split down the center. I received 2 other plants with rotted roots which I emailed the company about and they offered a return label instead of partial refund or discount. This orchid was not the right color either which was the reason I purchased. The roots do look ok on this orchid hence the one star. This is the second time ordering and I have been disappointed both times.
Very Good condition. Big enough. Strong. Definitely will adapt easily to my home
