This is a small to medium-sized, epiphytic species found across a wide vertical range, from sea level up to 2500 meters, in tropical dry and moist forests of Central and South America. This adaptability classifies it as a versatile Hot to Cool growing orchid.
This species is known for its exceptionally long, branching inflorescences that can reach up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) in length. These spikes carry numerous small, showy flowers, typically about 1" (2.5 cm) across.
