Sobralia klotzscheana

Sobralia klotzscheana is a large terrestrial orchid found in wet montane forests from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. This hot-to-cool grower has stout, erect, cane-like stems and distinct pleated leaves.

• Light: It needs bright, indirect light to partial shade. Provide enough light for blooming, but shield its foliage from direct sun.
• Temperature: This species prefers intermediate to cool-intermediate conditions, ideally between 60-80°F (16-27°C). It is tolerant of slight temperature fluctuations.
• Humidity: High humidity, between 60% and 80%, is essential. Always provide excellent air movement to prevent issues in the moisture-rich environment.
• Watering: Water liberally and frequently to keep the well-draining media consistently moist. Superior drainage is necessary to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

The showy terminal flowers measure up to 3 1/4" [8 cm]. Color is variable, usually in pink tones or white with a pink lip. Individual blooms are short-lived, but they appear in succession, providing a continuous display.
