Orchids
Orchidaceae, commonly known as the orchid family, is a large and diverse family of flowering plants with over 25,000 species and 100,000 hybrids. Orchids are found in nearly every habitat worldwide, except in deserts and glaciers. The family is known for their unique flowers, which come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes, often with complex patterns and fragrances to attract pollinators.
Orchids are epiphytic, lithophytic, or terrestrial plants, meaning they grow on other plants, rocks, or in the ground, respectively. They have specialized structures such as pseudobulbs, aerial roots, and velamen, which allow them to absorb water and nutrients from the surrounding environment.
The orchid family is divided into two subfamilies: the Epidendroideae and the Orchidoideae. The Epidendroideae subfamily is the largest and includes the most popular orchid species, such as Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Dendrobium, and Oncidium. The Orchidoideae subfamily is smaller and includes the genera Orchis, Ophrys, and Habenaria.
Orchids have been highly prized for their beauty and rarity for centuries, and many species have been collected from the wild for trade and cultivation. Today, orchids are commonly cultivated as houseplants, for cut flowers, and for commercial orchid production. Conservation efforts are also underway to protect threatened orchid species from over-collection and habitat loss.
We specializes in growing and selling a diverse selection of orchids. Our collection includes rare and exotic species from all over the world, as well as popular orchids such as Cattleyas, Phragmipedium, and Oncidiums.
Based in Ecuador, a country known for its rich orchid biodiversity, we offer both wholesale and retail options for orchid enthusiasts, collectors, and professionals. Our orchids are grown using natural fertilizers and pesticides, and we prioritize the conservation of native orchid species.
