Phragmipedium Wayne Riggs

Phragmipedium Wayne Riggs

This outstanding slipper orchid hybrid is a cross between Phragmipedium boissierianum and Phragmipedium kovachii, masterfully combining distinctive characteristics that make it a prized specimen for discerning orchid collectors and enthusiasts.

  • Light: Prefers moderate, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, especially during midday hours, as this can easily scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures should range between 18-24°C (65-75°F), with a slight drop at night to 13-18°C (55-65°F).
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity, ideally between 70-80%. Excellent air circulation is still essential to prevent fungal issues, especially in humid conditions.
  • Watering: This hybrid demands consistent moisture. Proper care involves using a well-draining growing medium. The potting medium should never be allowed to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

The flowers display stunning pink to magenta petals and sepals with an elegant white pouch decorated with pink spotting and striping. The classic slipper orchid form showcases graceful, twisted petals and excellent flower substance inherited from both distinguished parents.
