Anthurium warocqueanum 'Green zafire'

Anthurium warocqueanum 'Green zafire'

A prized select form of the legendary Queen Anthurium, 'Green Zafire' is distinguished by its exceptionally deep green, velvety leaves with brilliant silver-white venation and a rich, jewel-like surface sheen. One of the most coveted foliage aroids in cultivation, this cultivar represents the finest expression of the species — offering the dramatic, pendant leaves that have made warocqueanum a crown jewel of any serious collection.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun, which can bleach or scorch the delicate velvety surface. Thrives under quality grow lights or near a well-filtered window.
  • Temperature: Intermediate growing. 60–75°F (15–24°C); protect from temperatures below 55°F (13°C). Cooler nights help maintain the deep green coloration.
  • Humidity: 80–95%; extremely high humidity is essential for this species. A humidifier or enclosed growing environment is strongly recommended.
  • Watering: Water when the top inch of substrate dries out; ensure excellent drainage. Never allow to sit in standing water. Consistent moisture without waterlogging is key.

Additional Notes:

Foliage is large, elongated, and deeply pendant, with a rich dark green velvety surface and striking silver venation — hallmarks of the 'Green Zafire' selection. Grow in a well-draining, moisture-retentive aroid mix (fine bark, sphagnum moss, perlite). Fertilize lightly every 4–6 weeks during the growing season. Leaves grow progressively larger with maturity, making this a long-term showpiece.

Maintenance: As a baby plant, repot according to growth until it reaches medium size. Provide adequate water, light, and fertilizer, but use less than for adult plants to avoid damaging development.
