Elaphoglossum paleaceum is an epiphytic or lithophytic fern, its most distinguishing feature is the dense covering of amber-colored, reflective scales on the fronds, which help protect the plant from sun damage and retain moisture.
As a fern, it does not flower but reproduces via spores. The fertile fronds are typically different from the sterile ones and bear the spore-producing structures across their entire undersurface, a characteristic known as acrostichoid sori.
