Amesiella philippinensis Culture

Amesiella philippinensis is a miniature, hot to warm-growing epiphytic orchid native to the Philippines. It is a stemless plant with a few fleshy, oblong-elliptic leaves. It is best grown mounted on cork or bark to allow its roots to dry between waterings.

  • Light: Good, bright light to partial sun.
  • Temperature: Hot to warm growing conditions are preferred, with a temperature range of 15-27°C (60-80°F) during the day and 13-21°C (55-70°F) at night.
  • Humidity: High humidity is essential, as this orchid is native to wet rainforests.
  • Watering: Water well and do not allow the plant to completely dry out.

Additional Notes

  • Floral Characteristics: This orchid produces star-shaped, pure white, fragrant flowers that are large for the size of the plant. The flowers have a distinct, long nectar spur and a pale yellow-orange callus on the lip. The blooms are long-lasting and appear on short, arching racemes.
