Anthurium nigrolaminum gigante x Anthurium besseae aff (Big)

A rare hybrid between Anth. nigrolaminum gigante and Anth. besseae aff, selected for its large-size potential. As it matures, this cross develops impressively large, elongated-cordate leaves with a deep blue-green velvety surface, prominent lateral venation, and dramatically wide-spread basal lobes — a silhouette that becomes more commanding with every new growth flush.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun. Thrives near an east- or north-facing window, or under grow lights.
  • Temperature: Intermediate-warm growing — 65°F–82°F (18°C–28°C). Protect from temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
  • Humidity: 70–90%. Use a humidifier or high-humidity enclosure for best results. Avoid dry air from heating or AC vents.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of the substrate feels dry. Use a well-draining, chunky aroid mix. Never let roots sit in standing water.
  • Growth Habit: Upright; develops large, imposing leaves with age. Benefits from a sturdy moss pole or totem to support its increasingly substantial foliage.

Additional Notes:

The wide-spreading basal lobes and elongated leaf apex are the defining traits of this cross, inherited from Anth. nigrolaminum gigante. Secondary leaves show a narrower, more elongated form with a matte blue-green finish — influence of the besseae aff parent. Long burgundy petioles elevate the leaves for a dramatic, architectural display. Minor variation between individuals is expected.
