Anthurium warocqueanum 'Esmeralda' (Big)

Anthurium warocqueanum 'Esmeralda' (Big)

One of the most iconic species in collector aroids, known for its dramatically elongated, pendulous leaves. The 'Esmeralda' clone is an Ecuagenera-selected form with refined leaf shape and prominent cream-white venation on a deep semi-velvety dark green blade — a combination that becomes increasingly striking at maturity.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun. Thrives near an east- or north-facing window, or under grow lights.
  • Temperature: Intermediate growing — 60°F–75°F (16°C–24°C). Avoid temperatures above 80°F (27°C) for extended periods.
  • Humidity: 80–90%. High humidity is essential for optimal growth and large leaf development. Use a humidifier or enclosed growing environment.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of the substrate feels dry. Use a well-draining, chunky aroid mix. Never let roots sit in standing water.
  • Growth Habit: Upright to pendulous; produces very long, narrow lanceolate-cordiform leaves on long, robust petioles. Benefits from a tall moss pole or totem to support mature leaf size.

Additional Notes:

Leaf color deepens from medium green in young plants to rich dark green with a semi-velvety surface at maturity. The 'Big' designation indicates a more developed specimen. Minor variation between individuals is expected.
