More information

Brassocattleya Felicia aurea

Brassocattleya Felicia aurea

A floriferous hybrid of Bc. Saint André × C. dowiana aurea, two classic Cattleya alliance orchids prized for their large, fragrant blooms. It bears slender, elongated sepals and petals with a tubular, ruffled lip with a contrasting throat, carried on tall, slender pseudobulbs with long, arching leaves.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; adequate light is essential for flowering — avoid harsh midday sun that can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: 60–85°F (16–29°C); a warm grower that tolerates a moderate temperature drop at night, which helps initiate blooming.
  • Humidity: 50–70%; good humidity combined with strong airflow prevents fungal issues while supporting healthy pseudobulb development.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to dry almost completely between waterings; reduce frequency slightly in cooler months to encourage flowering.

Additional Notes

This hybrid is known for its intense fragrance and large, ornate flowers — a hallmark of its C. dowiana aurea parentage. Grow in a coarse bark mix or mounted on cork with excellent drainage and airflow. Ships bare root and well-established at approximately 25 cm.
