This is a rare and striking tropical tree native to the rainforests of Ecuador and western South America, belonging to the legume family Fabaceae. Prized by collectors of unusual tropical species, it produces lush, pinnate foliage with an elegant, architectural presence that makes it a standout specimen in any tropical collection or greenhouse setting.

• Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Outdoors, a partially shaded position protected from harsh midday sun is preferred. Indoors, place near a bright window with filtered light.
• Temperature: Warm-growing; thrives between 65–90°F (18–32°C). Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C). Not frost-tolerant.
• Humidity: Prefers high humidity of 60–80%. Use a humidifier, humidity tray, or regular misting to maintain adequate moisture levels, especially indoors.
• Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot. Reduce watering frequency slightly during cooler months.

Foliage is pinnately compound, with glossy leaflets that emerge with a reddish-bronze flush before maturing to deep green — a particularly ornamental trait.
