Cattleya coccinea 'Pepe' x 'Camila'

This cross between Cattleya coccinea 'Pepe' and Cattleya coccinea 'Camila' pairs vivid red-orange flowers with a miniature plant habit. Broad petals and a contrasting yellow throat create a striking display for collectors with cool growing conditions.

  • Light: Bright, filtered light near an east-facing window or under light greenhouse shade. Avoid intense midday sun and heat buildup.
  • Temperature: Cool-growing, ideally 60–75°F (16–24°C) during the day and 50–60°F (10–16°C) at night. Provide a noticeable nighttime temperature drop and protect from prolonged heat.
  • Humidity: Aim for 60–80% humidity with steady, gentle air circulation.
  • Watering: Keep the roots lightly moist during active growth, allowing the medium to approach dryness between waterings without remaining dry for extended periods. Use rainwater or low-mineral water and an airy, fast-draining medium. Reduce watering in cooler, slower-growing conditions without allowing the pseudobulbs to shrivel.

Additional Notes:

Small pseudobulbs carry firm, oval green leaves, forming a compact clump over time. Grow in a small, well-ventilated pot or on a mount where frequent watering is practical, and repot when new roots begin to emerge. Flower form and intensity may vary among plants from this cross.
