Cattleya intermedia (f. alba x 'Aquimii')

This captivating cross between C. intermedia f. alba and C. intermedia 'Aquimii' combines the soft, pale lavender tones of the alba form with the bold magenta-fuchsia lip characteristic of the 'Aquimii' variety. As seed-grown plants, each individual may vary in the intensity of lip color, degree of lavender wash on the petals, and overall flower size — making every plant a unique and rewarding find.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light with some gentle morning sun. Avoid intense midday exposure.
  • Temperature: Intermediate; daytime 65–80°F (18–27°C), nighttime 55–62°F (13–17°C). Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  • Humidity: Moderate to high (50–70%) with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly during active growth, allowing the medium to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce frequency after flowering to encourage the next bloom cycle.

Additional Notes:

Flowers are medium-sized, typically 2–3" across, and produced in clusters of 3 to 7 blooms per spike. The white-centered, magenta-fringed lip provides a striking contrast to the pale petals — a hallmark of the 'Aquimii' influence. Blooms typically appear in late winter to spring and are lightly fragrant.
