Cattleya maxima is an epiphytic orchid, meaning that it grows on other plants or trees in its natural habitat. It prefers bright, indirect light and well-draining soil that allows for good air circulation. In cultivation, it is often grown in pots or hanging baskets with a coarse, well-draining potting mix.
Very happy with this Cattleya maxima. It is not only an adult plant, but in sheath, it seems it could bloom this year. It does need to be repotted, as the media is old, I'll just wait about a month for it to acclimate to my accommodations first and for the days to get a little longer. I will be putting it in a terra-cotta pot to make it bottom heavy too. I think it will like that.
My orchid came with five broken leaves, the leaves that weren’t broken were so old and dry they were split down the center. I received 2 other plants with rotted roots which I emailed the company about and they offered a return label instead of partial refund or discount. This orchid was not the right color either which was the reason I purchased. The roots do look ok on this orchid hence the one star. This is the second time ordering and I have been disappointed both times.
I have ordered several plants from Ecugenara. There have been a few plants that didn't survive but for the most part all the plants have been big and beautiful. Ecugenara is my go to plant store. Also anytime there's questions I have or concerns, I always get quick responses. Love this store and recommend their plants
Thank you for amazing customer service and quick resolution! Everything arrived in perfect condition
The orchid plants I received are very healthy and beautiful. Looking forward to ordering more soon.
It just recently bloomed and the colors of this orchid it so intense that the camera cannot fully describe. I can describe it's color as a very intense bright velvety blood red, dust with diamond glitters. It's amazing and the fragrance is Wowza..!!
I Love it!!!
I contacted Ecuagenera quite literally 30 minutes after receiving it, but they never got back to me. Two of its pseudobulbs were already rotted as soon as I saw it and it had a foul odor coming from the substrate. There was SO MUCH root rot. I wish I could’ve gotten a replacement, but since no one will get back to me, I’m trying to get it to recover. I’m not spending that much money again if it’s going to end up the same way.
Beautiful photos thru out Vol. 5, this makes it easy to help identify the species. It also completes the set of 5 Volumes for me.
