Colocasia Siam Ruby (s)

Colocasia Siam Ruby (s)

A bold and dramatic tropical aroid cultivar prized for its deep burgundy to ruby-red foliage with contrasting dark stems and prominent veining. 'Siam Ruby' brings intense color and lush, tropical texture to gardens, patios, and water features, making it one of the most visually striking Colocasia cultivars available.

  • Light: Full sun to bright indirect light; more sun intensifies the ruby-red coloration. Partial shade is tolerated but may reduce color saturation.
  • Temperature: 65–95°F (18–35°C); thrives in warm, humid conditions. Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  • Humidity: 60–90%; naturally adapted to high-humidity tropical environments. Benefits from consistent moisture in the air and soil.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist to wet; tolerates boggy conditions and can be grown at pond margins. Do not allow to dry out completely.

Additional Notes:

Foliage is large, heart-shaped, and deeply pigmented in shades of burgundy and ruby-red, with dark, almost black stems that enhance the dramatic effect. Plant in rich, moisture-retentive soil amended with compost. Fertilize every 2–4 weeks with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season to support vigorous foliage production.

Maintenance: As a baby plant, repot according to growth until it reaches medium size. Provide adequate water, light, and fertilizer, but use less than for adult plants to avoid damaging development.
