Columnea herthae

Columnea herthae, commonly known as Hertha's Columnea, is a captivating trailing gesneriad native to the rainforests of Central and South America. It produces cascading vines adorned with small, lance-shaped leaves and striking tubular flowers in vivid shades of red and orange, making it an exceptional choice for hanging baskets and indoor displays.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun exposure to prevent leaf scorch.
  • Temperature: Warm-growing; 65–80°F (18–27°C). Protect from temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity preferred, ideally 60–80%; mist regularly or use a humidity tray.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged; allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.

Additional Notes:

Stems can reach 12–24 inches in length. Blooms appear along the stems and attract hummingbirds in their native habitat. Shipped bare root.
