Cybianthus anthuriophyllus

A rare and striking tropical shrub native to the cloud forests of Ecuador and Colombia, prized by collectors for its remarkably large, glossy leaves that closely resemble those of an Anthurium — a trait reflected in its species name. This unusual member of the Primulaceae family brings bold, architectural foliage to any tropical collection and thrives in the humid, shaded conditions of its native highland habitat.

• Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the large leaves. A north- or east-facing window or a shaded greenhouse bench is ideal.
• Temperature: Intermediate to cool-growing; prefers 55–72°F (13–22°C). Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
• Humidity: High humidity is essential — maintain 70–90% for best growth. Use a humidifier, humidity tray, or enclosed growing space.
