Dendrobium aberrans

Dendrobium aberrans

This miniature epiphytic orchid offers delicate clusters of flowers with beautifully lobed lips. Its small stature makes it an appealing choice for growers who enjoy intricate blooms without needing much display space.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light or gently filtered morning sun. An east-facing window or lightly shaded greenhouse position works well; protect from strong midday sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm-growing; aim for 65–82°F (18–28°C) during the day, with slightly cooler nights around 58–65°F (14–18°C).
  • Humidity: Aim for 60–80% with steady, gentle air circulation. Mounted plants need particularly consistent humidity.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly during active growth, allowing the airy orchid medium to approach dryness before watering again. Reduce frequency slightly when growth slows, but avoid prolonged drought or a hard dry winter rest.

Additional Notes:

White blooms have delicately divided lips and faint blush tones near their centers. Grow in a small pot with fine bark or on a mount if frequent watering is practical. Retain healthy older pseudobulbs, which support the developing growths.
