Dendrobium chrysopterum

Dendrobium chrysopterum

A distinctive botanical orchid for collectors who enjoy growing less-common Dendrobium species. A well-ventilated growing space and careful moisture management provide a practical starting point for cultivation.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light in a greenhouse or near an east-facing window. Protect from strong midday sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate conditions, approximately 65–80°F (18–27°C), with slightly cooler nights. Avoid prolonged exposure to temperature extremes.
  • Humidity: Aim for 60–80% humidity with steady air circulation.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly during active growth, allowing the airy orchid medium to approach dryness between waterings. Adjust frequency to root activity and growing conditions; avoid standing water.

Additional Notes:

Use a freely draining orchid mix and monitor new growth and root condition to fine-tune care. Retain healthy older canes and avoid imposing a prolonged dry rest without species-specific guidance.
