Hoya lacunosa Moonshine

Hoya lacunosa Moonshine

A luminous and floriferous vining Hoya, the 'Moonshine' form of H. lacunosa stands out for its small, slightly textured leaves in a soft lime-green to pale yellow-green tone that gives the plant a bright, glowing appearance. Like all lacunosa forms, it produces abundant clusters of tiny, sweetly fragrant white flowers and is among the easiest and most rewarding Hoyas to grow.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; tolerates some morning direct sun. Adequate light enhances the pale leaf coloration and encourages frequent blooming. Avoid harsh midday sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm growing. 65–82°F (18–28°C); protect from temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: 50–70%; adaptable to average household humidity, though higher levels promote more vigorous growth.
  • Watering: Allow the substrate to dry out almost completely between waterings; susceptible to root rot if kept too wet. Reduce frequency in winter.

Additional Notes:

Foliage is small and slightly textured on slender, freely branching stems. Fragrance is most noticeable in the evening. Do not remove spent peduncles, as new blooms emerge from the same spurs each season. Grow in a well-draining mix (perlite, bark, and a small amount of potting mix). Fertilize monthly during the growing season.
