More information

Hoya sussuela

Hoya sussuela

This distinctive climbing species is prized for its exceptional flowering performance and unique textural qualities, making it a treasured addition to any Hoya collection.

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light for optimal flowering. Can tolerate some morning sun but avoid harsh direct sunlight which can damage the fuzzy leaves.
  • Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures. Ideal range between 18-26°C (65-79°F) year-round. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C (59°F).
  • Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity, ideally between 50-70%. Good air circulation is essential to prevent fungal issues while maintaining the health of the velvety foliage.
  • Watering: Allow the growing medium to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry, but avoid overwatering as this can lead to root rot.

Additional Notes

Foliage Characteristics: Features distinctive fuzzy, velvety leaves and stems that create a unique tactile experience. Produces spectacular umbels of dark maroon, star-shaped flowers that can contain up to 10 individual blooms per cluster. The flowers are highly fragrant and create a dramatic contrast against the soft, textured foliage, making this species particularly sought after by Hoya enthusiasts.
