More information

Huperzia phlegmaria

Huperzia phlegmaria

An epiphytic lycopod with slender, arching stems densely clothed in small, scale-like leaves arranged in a spiral pattern. The stems grow upright before gracefully arching outward, giving the plant a cascading, tassel-like silhouette prized by collectors of rare botanical specimens.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: 59–72°F (15–22°C); an intermediate grower that appreciates stable, cool-to-warm conditions without sudden fluctuations.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high ambient moisture is essential for healthy stem elongation and dense leaf coverage.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged; mist regularly and ensure excellent air circulation to prevent rot.

Additional Notes

A widespread tropical species found across cloud forests of Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and tropical America. Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a well-draining orchid mix with added sphagnum moss. Ships bare-root or in its nursery pot, well-established and ready to adapt to its new environment.
