Lepanthes clareae

Lepanthes clareae

A captivating miniature orchid native to the cloud forests of Central America, prized for its jewel-like flowers in rich shades of red-orange with glistening, hair-fringed tepals and a contrasting bright orange lip.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light — an east-facing window or shaded south/west exposure works well. Avoid direct sun.
  • Temperature: Cool-growing — 50–65°F (10–18°C) nights, with days not exceeding 75°F (24°C). Consistent cool conditions are key to long-term health.
  • Humidity: High humidity of 70–90% is essential. Use a humidity tray, terrarium setup, or cool-mist humidifier.
  • Watering: Keep the roots consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water frequently with soft or rainwater; never allow the medium to dry out completely.

Additional Notes:

Foliage consists of small, oval leaves arranged in a fan-like pattern, each producing a single inflorescence that can rebloom repeatedly over time. Best suited for experienced growers or those with a cool, humid growing environment such as a terrarium or cool greenhouse. A true gem for miniature orchid collectors.
