More information

Lycaste Takum

Lycaste Takum

A hybrid of Lyc. × michelii × Lyc. Muromachi, combining a fragrant Ecuadorian species with one of the most awarded Lycaste hybrids in modern breeding. Pseudobulbs are stout and well-formed, producing broad, pleated leaves and flowers with full, rounded petals and a prominently cupped lip.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which scorches the broad leaves and stresses pseudobulbs.
  • Temperature: 55–75°F (13–24°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from a cooler, drier rest in winter to initiate blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; maintain good air circulation to prevent fungal issues on the large leaf surface.
  • Watering: Water freely during active growth; reduce significantly once pseudobulbs mature and leaves begin to drop, allowing the mix to dry between waterings during rest.

Additional Notes

Plants are grown in a well-draining bark and perlite mix and shipped bare root, well established. Pot promptly upon arrival and water thoroughly to rehydrate the roots.
