Masdevallia Bonsall Sun Shine

This hybrid of Masd. Afternoon Delight and Masd. MacInnes' Golden Heart produces elegant yellow flowers with long, tapering sepal tails. Upright flower stems hold the blooms above the foliage for a graceful, open display.

  • Light: Moderate, filtered light or bright shade. An east-facing window with protection from direct sun is suitable.
  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate-growing; 55–75°F (13–24°C), with cooler nights. Protect from prolonged heat.
  • Humidity: Maintain 70–85% humidity with gentle, continuous air circulation.
  • Watering: Keep the roots consistently moist without leaving the pot waterlogged. Use low-mineral water and a fine, airy orchid mix; do not allow the substrate to dry out completely.

Additional Notes:

Narrow, upright green leaves form a tidy clump. Without water-storing pseudobulbs, this orchid benefits from attentive watering and fresh substrate; repot when the mix begins to break down, preferably as new roots develop.
