More information

Masdevallia falcago

Masdevallia falcago

This charming miniature species features delicate flowers with curved, sickle-shaped sepals that give the plant its distinctive appearance, blooming sequentially on short inflorescences when provided with cool, humid conditions.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50-70% shade cloth. Avoid direct sun exposure which can scorch leaves.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 59-72°F (15-22°C), nighttime 50-59°F (10-15°C). Benefits from 10-15°F day-night differential.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with excellent air circulation. Use humidity trays, humidifiers, or terrarium setups.
  • Watering: Keep consistently moist year-round. Water mounted plants daily, potted plants every 2-3 days. Reduce slightly in winter.

Additional Notes

The species name "falcago" refers to the sickle-shaped lateral sepals. Grows well mounted on tree fern or in small pots with fine bark mix and sphagnum moss.
