This small, cool-to-cold growing orchid is native to high-altitude, rocky slopes in Peru, notably around Machu Picchu. Known as "Wajanki" by the Incas, it is famous for its large, vibrant, triangular flowers. It is intolerant of high heat and requires consistently cool conditions.
The flowers are a striking, brilliant orange or cinnabar color, covered with fine purple hairs. This unique combination creates a shimmering, iridescent effect as the flower moves, making it a highly desirable species.
