Palicourea paulina

Palicourea paulina

This tropical shrub produces dense terminal clusters of tubular flowers, bringing a distinctive accent to a shaded plant collection. Its upright silhouette makes it an appealing choice for a sheltered growing space.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light or filtered shade. Protect from intense midday sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm-growing; aim for 65–82°F (18–28°C), avoiding frost and cold drafts.
  • Humidity: Aim for 60–80% humidity with gentle air circulation.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged. Water as the surface begins to dry, using a loose, well-draining mix.
  • Growth Habit: Terrestrial, upright shrub. Grow in a stable pot with room for root development; a moss pole is not needed.

Additional Notes:

Large, opposite, deep-green leaves have prominent veins and a gently textured surface. The compact orange-red flower clusters contrast with the foliage. Allow space around the stems as the plant develops.
