Philodendron billietiae 'Croat'

Philodendron billietiae 'Croat'

This is a highly desirable climbing Aroid from the tropical rainforests of South America. It is best known for its signature vibrant yellowish-orange petioles which contrast beautifully with its large, glossy green, strap-shaped leaves.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Protect the foliage from harsh, direct midday sun, which can cause burning.
  • Temperature: This plant requires warm, stable conditions. Keep indoor temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C). It is very sensitive to cold and should never drop below 55°F(13°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity is crucial for large leaf development, ideally 60% or higher. Use a humidifier or group the plant with others to maintain high local moisture levels.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Allow the top 1 to 2 inches of the potting mix to dry out completely before watering thoroughly.

Additional Notes

Provide a moss pole, plank, or trellis for support. Giving the plant vertical support encourages it to produce larger, mature leaves. Use an appropriate aroid mix (containing bark, perlite, and coco coir).
