Philodendron microstictum

Philodendron microstictum

Philodendron microstictum is a climbing tropical plant (hemiepiphyte) native to the wet forests of Costa Rica. It is known for its matte green, leathery, heart-shaped leaves and needs support to climb.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Too much sun will scorch the leaves; too little causes leggy growth.
  • Temperature: Warm. The ideal range is 68-86°F (20-30°C). Keep temperatures above 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: Moderate to high (50-70% or more). Good air circulation is necessary.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the top 50% of the soil to dry before watering again. Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix.

Additional Notes

The main feature of this plant is its leathery, textured, heart-shaped foliage. As a climber, providing a moss pole or sturdy support will encourage larger leaves and more robust growth.
