Philodendron spiritus-sancti

Philodendron spiritus-sancti

Often called the Holy Grail of its genus, is an extremely rare climbing aroid. It is native to the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, and is critically endangered. This plant is highly valued for its striking, long, narrow, and velvety dark-green leaves.

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Filtered light is best. Avoid all direct sun exposure, which can easily damage the foliage.
  • Temperature: Requires warm and stable temperatures, ideally between 66-76°F (19-24°C). Protect it from drafts.
  • Humidity: Needs high humidity, targeting 60-80% or above. A humidifier is recommended to maintain optimal health.
  • Watering: Keep the airy, well-draining potting mix consistently moist. Water when the top inch of the medium is dry, ensuring the pot drains completely.

Additional Notes

This species is cultivated for its unique foliage and rarely blooms in a home environment. As a vining plant, it will benefit from a moss pole or support to climb as it matures. Note that this plant is toxic if ingested.
