More information

Philodendron verrucosum Amazon Sunset 'Iricolor'

Philodendron verrucosum Amazon Sunset 'Iricolor'

A luminous form within the Amazon Sunset lineage, 'Iricolor' stands out with broadly cordate leaves in bright lime-to-medium green, clean white venation, and a softly iridescent surface. Young leaves emerge with warm bronzy-rose tones along the margins before settling into the bright green of maturity — a subtler, more diffuse color transition than the classic 'Amazon Sunset'.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; enhances the iridescent quality of the foliage and the contrast of the white venation. Avoid direct sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to cool-growing; prefers 60–75°F (15–24°C). Protect from heat above 85°F (29°C) and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity essential — maintain 70–90%. A humidifier or enclosed growing space is strongly recommended.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings; excellent drainage is critical.
  • Growth Habit: Vining and climbing; benefits from a moss pole or support structure to encourage larger leaf development as it matures.

Additional Notes:

Distinguished from the classic 'Amazon Sunset' by its brighter, more luminous green foliage, subtler color transitions, and the soft iridescent sheen of the leaf surface. Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertilizer.
