Philodendron verrucosum 'arcoiris'

Philodendron verrucosum 'arcoiris'

A cheerful and colorful selection of Phil. verrucosum, 'Arcoiris' (Spanish for rainbow) earns its name from its striking vivid pink-to-red petioles and stem that contrast brilliantly against the broad, glossy medium-green leaves with pale yellow-green venation — a multi-toned display that adds a lively tropical accent to any collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; enhances the contrast between the colorful petioles and the glossy green foliage. Avoid direct sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to cool-growing; prefers 60–75°F (15–24°C). Protect from heat above 85°F (29°C) and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity essential — maintain 70–90%. A humidifier or enclosed growing space is strongly recommended.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings; excellent drainage is critical.
  • Growth Habit: Vining and climbing; benefits from a moss pole or support structure to encourage larger leaf development as it matures.

Additional Notes:

The vivid pink-red petioles transitioning to green are the defining trait of this selection, giving the plant its rainbow-inspired name. Leaves are broad, glossy, and cordate with slightly undulate margins. Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertilizer.
