Philodendron verrucosum Panther

Philodendron verrucosum Panther

A breathtaking selection of the iconic Phil. verrucosum, 'Panther' features large, cordate, velvety dark green leaves with a luminous network of pale yellow-green venation, an elongated acuminate tip, densely hairy green petioles, and a rich reddish-bronze underside — one of the most visually complex and coveted Philodendrons available.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; essential to bring out the full depth of the velvety texture and venation contrast. Avoid direct sun, which dulls the dark foliage.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to cool-growing; prefers 60–75°F (15–24°C). Protect from heat above 85°F (29°C) and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity is essential — maintain 70–90%. Sensitive to low humidity; a humidifier or enclosed growing space is strongly recommended.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings; excellent drainage is critical.
  • Growth Habit: Vining and climbing; benefits from a moss pole or support structure to encourage larger, more dramatically veined leaves as it matures.

Additional Notes:

The hairy petioles and reddish-bronze leaf underside are signature traits of this species. Fertilize lightly during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertilizer.
