Phragmipedium Belle Hougue Point

Phragmipedium Belle Hougue Point

A striking slipper orchid hybrid bred from Phrag. Eric Young crossed with Phrag. caudatum, combining warm golden-yellow tones with the dramatically elongated, ribbon-like pendant petals of caudatum. A bold and architecturally impressive flower for any Phragmipedium collection.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun. Consistent bright, filtered light promotes reliable blooming.
  • Temperature: Intermediate growing. 58–75°F (14–24°C); cooler nights encourage spike initiation. Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  • Humidity: 60–80%; benefits from good air movement alongside elevated humidity.
  • Watering: Keep the medium consistently moist; never allow to dry out completely. Use low-mineral or reverse osmosis water when possible, as Phragmipediums are sensitive to salt buildup.

Additional Notes:

Grow in fine to medium bark or sphagnum moss with excellent drainage. Fertilize weekly at quarter strength with a low-phosphorus, low-calcium fertilizer. Repot every 1–2 years to refresh the medium.
