Pleopeltis panamense

This tropical fern brings a light, graceful presence to shaded plant collections. Its adaptable epiphytic growth makes it an appealing choice for mounted displays or airy containers in a humid growing space.

• Light: Bright, indirect light or filtered shade. Protect from harsh midday sun; an east-facing window or shaded greenhouse position is suitable.
• Temperature: Intermediate to warm-growing; aim for 65–82°F (18–28°C). Protect from frost and cold drafts.
• Humidity: Preferably 60–80%, with gentle air circulation.
• Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the surface of the growing medium to begin drying before watering again. Use an airy, well-draining mix and avoid prolonged saturation.
• Growth Habit: Rhizomatous and epiphytic, gradually spreading across its growing surface. Grow on cork or in a shallow container, keeping the rhizome at the surface rather than buried; a moss pole is unnecessary.

Slender green fronds with gently rippled margins create an upright to arching silhouette. Leave room around the rhizome for new growth, and handle the narrow fronds carefully when repotting or mounting.
