An epiphytic bromeliad native to Ecuador, found on mossy branches in intermediate Andean cloud forests. It produces a distinctive digitate inflorescence composed of multiple parallel, densely imbricate spikes with glossy, scale-like bracts, emerging from dark, mottled basal bracts at the stem tip.

Temperature: 54–72°F (12–22°C); an intermediate grower that appreciates stable, fresh conditions and does not tolerate prolonged heat or frost.

Grown and established at Ecuagenera in Ecuador, this species is shipped bare root and well-established. Best mounted on cork or tree fern, or potted in a very open, fast-draining mix of bark and perlite with excellent airflow.
