Restrepia brachypus

Restrepia brachypus

A captivating miniature from Andean cloud forests, bearing the unmistakable floral architecture of the genus — a filiform tail projecting from the dorsal sepal, a broad striated synsepalum, and club-tipped petals framing a small articulated lip.

  • Light: Low to medium indirect light; avoid direct sun. Consistent diffused light is ideal for this cloud forest miniature.
  • Temperature: 50–72°F (10–22°C) — Cool to Intermediate grower. Requires stable, cool conditions and excellent air movement at all times. Does not tolerate heat.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential. Best grown in a terrarium, grow case, or humid greenhouse environment.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate consistently moist — never allow to dry out. Excellent drainage is essential to prevent rot at the base of the leaves.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small pot with fine sphagnum moss. Blooms freely and repeatedly from the base of mature leaves. Ships well-established, bare root or in a small pot.
