Oncidium sphacelatum is a captivating and widely cultivated species in the Oncidium genus, known for its abundant and showy blooms. Native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, this orchid is commonly referred to as the "Dancing Lady Orchid" due to the distinctive shape of its flowers, which resemble a fluttering skirt. The flowers are usually bright yellow with brown markings, and they grow in large, branching sprays that can create a stunning floral display. This species blooms prolifically, often producing long-lasting flowers that can add a vibrant touch to any environment. Oncidium sphacelatum thrives in intermediate to warm temperatures and prefers bright, indirect light. It requires a well-draining growing medium, as it is prone to root rot if left in stagnant water. Regular watering and high humidity are essential for its growth, but it's important to allow the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings. This orchid is relatively easy to care for, making it a popular choice for both novice and experienced orchid growers. With its delightful flowers and graceful appearance, Oncidium sphacelatum is a delightful addition to any orchid collection.
I’ve order a lot of orchids and plants from this company. Most have been decent, some beautiful, and some terrible. This plant is super small and has no blooms on it. Not even a spike starting so will be a while before I can see its beautify.
I love the cattleya from Ecuagenera US in Apopka, FL. I can spend all day wondering around just their orchid greenhouse, checking out each and every one. I've never been able to leave without something in my hands.
